That was great! I live sooo close to Sturgis I see that quite often. Bein’ a biker has a couple of drawbacks that some just aren’t prepared for. It’s always sad when the bloom is off the rose. Gotta laugh, sometimes at ourselves.

Comment on Suzuki Goes After Kawasaki and Honda with Inexpensive Parallel Twin – The Inazuma 250 (News) by JoeW

It is what happens when a company tries to sell a product in the West that was designed for Asian tastes because they will sell a lot more over there… all the old vertical twins like the GS500 could not pass modern emission/noise laws but they have left a large gap in the market that the Chinese will fill when they get their act together

The agreement between Suzuki & VW desolved last week. All shares that VW has taken over will be given back so both parties go back to business as before the agreement.

That’s funny about the Jetta. I had a girlfriend who had one years ago. I used to joke that thank God it was a four-door, since at any given point in time 2-3 door handles were broken!

I wonder if this ad is a subtile jab at Suzuki. The VW/Suzuki alliance is in trouble and Suzuki is going to arbitration to get out of the deal. Suzuki is claiming VW won’t share its technology, which was the whole point of the deal in the first place.

That was hilarious!
Those that were offended….. Get a sense of humor. You’re taking yourselves far to seriously.

Great little commercial…and the WR is what I would describe as a true adventure bike, rather than all the pseudo big beast ( GS )crap on the market claiming to be as such.

I love the vintage KZs especial because the second bike I owned was a 1979 KZ650. A VERY cool middleweight superbkie. People love em they were like mini Z-1’s! I watch the commercial again just to see the bikes rolling!

Chris – not sure what you are getting at, as your reply wasn’t communicated very clearly. Perhaps my original message wasn’t clear either. I was merely stating that I would like to see the KTM 690 Duke offered in a more super-sport-like setup (i.e., like the rumored KTM RC4) with ergonomics that would allow for more comfortable city riding as well. The CBR600RR for instance, has a more upright riding position (compared to other supersports) that makes it more comfortable for city riding. I have a WR250R that is very comfortable to ride with a nice, very upright riding position like the 690 Duke. My CBR250R has a more aggressive riding position (though still relatively upright) that makes it slightly less comfortable to ride than the Yamaha – but on the street – I much prefer this riding position, as it makes the CBR250R so much more fun to ride than the WR250R.

I was going to post this exact thing. Flat slides and velocity stacks, along with an old school SuperTrapp pipe? that bike is the nuts!

590 dollars is way beyond Chinese genericlone and into top-end Rev’it or Dainese territory. These brands have retro-stylish jackets available, including premium materials, modern armor and safety features; snide comments in the article aside there are plenty of very nice, non-Power Ranger-looking options available. Even if you only wreck at 30 MPH (or, heck, parking lot speeds) you still benefit from basic armor, and besides, you don’t buy safety gear for the best-case crash, you buy for the worst case. For that kind of money you shouldn’t have to compromise on protection.

I’m curious about the comments on the distributor chain. While Sgarbossa has a point about brick and mortar shops being unwilling and unable to offer broad selections, I’d imagine the bulk of the market has moved to online vendors like Motorcycle Superstore, New Enough, Revzilla, etc. – or, in some cases, buying directly from the manufacturer’s online store (like RSD offers.) The smallest guys who can’t even swing their own storefront seem to be moving product via eBay. Sure, volume manufacturing is key for hitting the lowest prices. But for boutique dealers (like RSD) marketing on brand identity, premium features and style, the “cool, small, upcoming brands”, entry in the market should be a lot easier these days.

I second the recommendation for Rev’it gear. By far the highest quality gear I’ve ever had. Most everything else in comparison seems low tech or dowdy.

It’s top notch stuff, and if you ride, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Old news BMW has had tubeless spoked rims years and the Aprilia Caponord had the feature, but a somewhat differnet design way back in 2002.

One and only reason…..manufacturer badge would make it better on the road ….only for riders that must buy a Honda

I never owned a BMWGS, but my son did and it is a great bike on the road

Good idea….

Another option would be to modify a Honda Pacific Coast for Crosstour.

Weighs less than this new loser, auto tip over protection with huge side case bulge, driveshaft, unique look.

VIP as you said….. the Pacific Coast Crosstour will keep another bike that did not sell for Honda in the past on the road……and maitain this the tradition of most new Honda models including every variant of the DOA new VFR1200.

Honda Crosstour……time for yet big promotions and salary increases for the marketing and design team again……same team that surely did the DN-01

20+ years ago pick slips would have been Mr. Hondas response to all these bikes in the design stage…..certainly none would have made it to production.

No one will buy it……yet another in a a long line of new Hondas that never sold.

Sorry …it will sell to those that will only buy Honda Motorcycles and we will be hearing the same well worn and tired justifications for a new Honda bike that fits in no market place, never wins any comparison tests and again….did I mention this….does not sell
